Do looks affect subscribing to someone's videos/blog?

I've started thinking about why I follow so many blogs or subscribe to youtuber's since I've accumulated wayyyyyy too many subscriptions, some of them outdated since the original posters don't bother to inform you that they are taking a break!!! (Shamefully, I'm guilty of delayed breaks also, SMH)

Point of this post is, does a person's looks make you subscribe or follow their journey?

I've noticed a lot of threads on different boards about people to follow/subscribe to, however, one of the most noticeable compliments to the person is that they are either (1) pretty, gorgeous, cute (2)hair is beautiful, long, natural, etc...(3) etc.....

I'm just interested to see what people have to say. I know some blogs that offer valuable information but then there are some that have me ?????

So what makes you follow or subscribe to someone's youtube or personal blogs?

I follow mainly because of that person's point of view on a subject that I'm interested in or it could be that person's personality that draws me into what they share about no matter what randomness that they're talking about.

I subscribe to anyone with common goals and practices.I blog about haircare but I have such a wide range of who I am subscribed to. Long hair means nothing to me if there is no active blogging, tips or interaction. Every now and then I go through my list and see who's doing what and I will erase those who don't keep up with their blog.

@MzDayDream...I agree, personality would be a big thing for me..at first. I tend to get bored if the subjects seem redundant or have no point after a while.

@LaQT....ITA, but interaction is a big thing with me. I have a tendency to not post for a few days (which I'm SERIOUSLY working on) and it's not fair to the readers. But I have so many subscriptions it's ridiculous!

I agree with MzDayDream. The personality and writing style have to draw me in. I love reading things that make me laugh or think. You can do either one of those and you have a follower. Looks really don't play a part in it for me because you never really know what most bloggers look like. But I do find hilarious to see the "you are so gorgeous" comments on post. It's like okayyyyyy...did you just skip the whole post and comment about the physical appearance of the blogger? Seriously...lol

I can agree with each one of you on the points that you have made. I like to read interesting posts that I can identify with and offer valuable info. I personally only started my blog to keep a record for myself of my journey, but I started enjoying the feedback and info visitors share with me. It is hard to keep up sometimes though, but I usually try to check my favs and see what they have for the day.

To me, it's all about whether I feel like I share things in common with another blogger. The looks thing seems to be geared toward guys, LOL. Beauty comes from within to me, so as long as the person blogs with some sense and we share at least something in common, I'll subscribe!

@FlyHoney...well I would think the looks go for guys also!!! I've just noticed that there are a few folks out there that have recommended some blogs/youtubes that have absolutely garbage content but they're cute (????)

I don't know...I guess I base my subscriptions on what they are talking about, what we have in common, do they invest time in keeping their blog updated/fresh!! I agree with you though, I have to have something in common.

I have to say I don't think looks only impact guys. I think women are just as affected. I've seen it on hair forums where prettier posters got a lot more help/attention/replies than others--I think it's pretty much normal and human. I subscribe or follow based on personality too--but hey, an attractive design (colors, content) doesn't hurt--I am digging yours!

@DanaBash....sooooo true! I noticed this also so I think that looks can play an important factor in how people respond.

Thanks for the compliments! I also love to read blogs that are pretty and easy to navigate!
